Day 1 – Rapid City, South Dakota
See some of America’s grandest sights! Your western adventure begins in Rapid City, South Dakota. Transfer from the Rapid City Airport by hotel courtesy shuttle to your centrally located hotel for a two night stay. Rooms are available for check-in after 3:00 p.m. Join Caravan for a 7:00 p.m. welcome briefing.
Day 2 – Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse
Enjoy a morning visit to Mt. Rushmore National Monument and the sculpted faces of Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt and Lincoln. Next, drive to Crazy Horse Memorial. Started over 50 years ago, and still under construction, the memorial is the world’s largest sculpture in progress. Chief Standing Bear told the sculptor, Korczak Ziolkowski, “My fellow chiefs and I would like the white man to know the red man has great heroes, too.” The monument is a tribute to the Sioux Lakota Indian leader known as Crazy Horse. Here, Indian artisans showcase their arts and crafts and visit with guests. Visit the Indian Museum of North America. Return through the Black Hills to Rapid City. Free time to explore the historic district and stroll the Presidential Walk with life-size statues of American Presidents. B
Day 3 – Little Big Horn, Montana
Enter the range lands and oil fields of Wyoming and head west across the high plains. Visit the old western cowboy town of Sheridan. Enjoy lunch. Next, enter Montana, “Big Sky Country.” Brief visit to Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument in the Crow Nation. Here, in 1876, in the Valley of Little Big Horn, combined Sioux and Northern Cheyenne forces led by Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse overwhelmed General Custer and his cavalry. Continue to Billings, nestled between the Yellowstone River and the Rimrocks. Explorers Lewis & Clark camped near here in 1806. BL
Day 4 – Yellowstone National Park
Journey alongside the Yellowstone River in Montana this morning as you follow the Lewis and Clark Trail to Livingston, film location of “A River Runs Through It” and “The Horse Whisperer.” Continue following the Yellowstone River south through Paradise Valley into Yellowstone National Park. Established in 1872, Yellowstone became the first national park in the world. Now over 90 countries have national parks. This two million acre park contains almost 300 geysers and over 10,000 hot springs, fumaroles, and mud pots. Look for moose, elk, bison, bears, and wolves. You will visit the major attractions of both Yellowstone’s upper and lower loops on your leisurely visit to the park. Visit Mammoth Hot Springs, one of the best areas in the park for close-up viewing of elk. See the unique terraced pools at Mammoth. Enjoy a relaxing two night stay at your lodge, Old Faithful Inn. Old Faithful Geyser is within easy viewing and walking distance of Old Faithful Inn. Every 90 minutes, Old Faithful Geyser shoots thousands of gallons of steaming water into the air. Day 5 – Yellowstone National Park
Continue your exploration of Yellowstone Park today on the lower loop. Visit Norris Geyser Basin. Stop at Fishing Bridge Visitor Center alongside Yellowstone Lake. Visit Yellowstone’s Grand Canyon, where you can marvel at the rushing waters of Yellowstone Falls, twice the height of Niagara Falls. Return to Old Faithful Inn by mid-afternoon. Leisure time to enjoy your lodge and the nearby geysers. B
Day 6 – Grand Tetons, Jackson
This morning enter Grand Teton National Park. See the jagged, soaring Teton Range with peaks over 12,000 feet. Scenes from the movie “Shane” were filmed here. Stop at pristine Jenny Lake. Weather and river conditions permitting, an unforgettable float trip awaits you on the majestic Snake River. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound as you float through the park. Look for waterfowl, beaver, osprey and eagles. Then, to Jackson. Free time to explore the charming downtown. Stroll the art galleries and western shops. See the Antler Arch at the entrance to historic Jackson town square. You may wish to visit the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, with bar stools made from horse saddles. Day 7 – Tetons, Oregon Trail, Idaho
Head south this morning through the Bridger-Teton National Forest. Enter Idaho and travel along the route of the original “Oregon Trail.” Visit the National Oregon Trail Center. Continue to Salt Lake City, Utah, the state capital. Afternoon visit to Temple Square with its spacious gardens and fountains. See the Mormon Tabernacle, home to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir (unless closed to the public due to a religious ceremony). Enjoy a farewell dinner. BD
Day 8 – Salt Lake City, Utah

Days 1, 2 – Rapid City, South Dakota
Rushmore Hotel
The Rushmore Hotel is an elegant and artistic hotel located in the heart of Rapid City. The lobby has a marble floor design intricately pieced together with 75 different exotic stones from all over the world. All guest rooms at the Rushmore Hotel have coffeemakers and high speed internet. In Rapid City, “The City of Presidents,” there are now 43 life size bronze statues of former U.S. presidents on city street corners. A statue of President John F. Kennedy and his son, John F. Kennedy, Jr. stands outside the hotel.
Day 3 – Billings, Montana
Hilton Garden Inn
Billings, Montana’s largest city, is located in the south-central portion of the state. The Hilton Garden Inn is a modern mid-rise hotel located in the newer retail area of Billings, approximately 1/4 mile from Rimrock Mall. Each of the rooms has complimentary wired and wireless internet access, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, iron & ironing board, and hairdryer. The Hilton Garden Inn’s fitness center includes a heated indoor pool and whirlpool. The hotel has a restaurant and lobby bar and is within easy walking distance of several restaurants.
Days 4, 5 – Yellowstone Park, Wyoming

Old Faithful Inn is a National Park Lodge located inside Yelowstone National Park and within easy viewing and walking distance of Old Faithful Geyser. Staying within Yellowstone enhances your wildlife viewing and sightseeing opportunities. Yellowstone National Park is a visual playground with bubbling hot springs, thunderous waterfalls, fascinating wildlife and steaming geysers. Day 6 – Jackson, Wyoming

Day 1 – Fairbanks – From the airport, transfer (provided) to your riverfront hotel to meet your adventure specialist. Day 2 – Fairbanks & Denali (Bus Travel) – Discover local heritage and culture while cruising the Chena River on an old-fashioned sternwheeler and during free time downtown. Then board the deluxe motorcoach for the scenic drive to Denali National Park. From 4:30 pm, Denali is yours to explore. Your adventure specialist can recommend optional activities, from guided hikes to adventures like flightseeing or rafting down the Nenana River.
Day 3 – Denali National Park – Spend the day in this great national park, traveling into its unspoiled wilderness on the lookout for wildlife on the Denali Natural History Tour. Afterwards, your time is your own. Peruse the exhibits at the museum-like visitor center, stroll the trails, or relax back at the lodge.; Note: For an additional charge, upgrade the Denali Natural History Tour to the Tundra Wilderness Tour, available through your adventure specialist.
Day 4 – Denali & Talkeetna **Wilderness Express Train Travel – Enjoy more of the outdoors in Denali before boarding the glass-domed cars of the Wilderness Express for the train journey to Talkeetna. From 5:30 pm, enjoy free time in Alaska’s funkiest small town, whose historic main street is lined with roadhouse restaurants, cafes, brew pubs, and unique shops.
Day 5 – Talkeetna & Anchorage **Wilderness Express Train Travel – Spend the day discovering Talkeetna’s spectacular setting. Take an optional flightseeing excursion to get close to the north face of Denali, the mountain, or visit Talkeetna Lakes Park, home to sea otters and other animals. Then in the late afternoon, board the Wilderness Express for the trip to Alaska’s big city. From 8 pm, experience Anchorage’s unique nightlife: restaurants, craft breweries, music venues, city trails, and more are abuzz under the evening sunlight.
Day 6 – Anchorage & Seward (Bus Travel) – The day begins with a guided visit of the acclaimed Anchorage Museum. Then enjoy free time downtown for lunch, shopping and exploring on your own, before the deluxe motorcoach takes you through the Chugach Mountains to the coast. From 4 pm, the historic port town of Seward is yours to discover. Stroll the historic downtown, one of Alaska’s oldest communities, or hike a trail that is so close to a glacier, you can hear the ice crackling.

Spend four nights in national park lodges, including two nights at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and two nights at Zion Park Lodge, the only lodging in Zion National Park. Day 2 – Sedona, Grand Canyon
Drive through Scottsdale and along Camelback Mountain on your morning sightseeing. Continue to the artist colony of Sedona, surrounded by towering red rock formations. You have free time in Sedona to explore galleries, shops and restaurants. Continue through scenic Oak Creek Canyon. Arrive at the Grand Canyon for a relaxing two-night stay. Day 3 – Grand Canyon National Park
Entire day to explore the breathtaking beauty of the Grand Canyon, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Almost 280 miles long, the Grand Canyon varies in width from one to eighteen miles, with the Colorado River winding far below. Morning orientation drive of the Grand Canyon. Visit Desert View Lookout. The rest of your day is at leisure to enjoy Grand Canyon National Park. Relax and enjoy Grand Canyon vistas, or attend a park ranger talk. Free shuttles take you to the many lookout points on the West Rim. Visit historic Grand Canyon Park buildings such as Hopi House and Lookout Studio. Hike deep into the canyon on Bright Angel Trail, or enjoy less rigorous activities offered along the rim trails, including bike rentals. Your two night stay inside Grand Canyon National Park allows enough time for a comprehensive visit. Best of all, you will enjoy two opportunities to see Grand Canyon sunsets and sunrises. B
Day 4 – Monument Valley, Jeep Tour
Drive along the scenic East Rim of the Grand Canyon. Then, visit a Navajo and Hopi Trading Post. Here, you will find a large selection of high-quality Hopi Kachina dolls and fine Native American jewelry and handicrafts. Next, drive through the Hopi Indian Nation to the Navajo Indian Nation. Enjoy a Navajo guided jeep tour of the restricted backcountry of Monument Valley, a beautiful, pristine area of buttes and arches. John Ford, the filmmaker, discovered the rugged beauty of Monument Valley in the 1930’s. Western classics, such as “Stagecoach,” “The Searchers,” and “Once Upon a Time in the West” were filmed in Monument Valley with Hollywood legends, such as Maureen O’Hara, John Wayne, Henry Fonda, and James Stewart. Day 6 – Bryce Canyon National Park
Enjoy breakfast in the Rainbow Room. Then, drive to Kanab, known as Little Hollywood. Over 100 western movies and TV shows were filmed here including “Gunsmoke,” “The Lone Ranger,” “Wagon Train,” and “How the West Was Won.” Next visit Bryce Canyon. See the Bryce “Hoodoos,” fantastic red, orange, and pink limestone spirals. Stop at Bryce Point and Sunrise Point, overlooking the stunning Bryce Amphitheater. Continue to Zion National Park. Day 7 – Zion National Park

Doubletree Suites
Central to Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe, Doubletree Guest Suites Phoenix-Gateway Center features beautiful, newly renovated two room suites within walking distance of boutique shopping and dining. Local golf courses and tennis courts are a short drive away. The hotel has a bar/lounge, swimming pool, fitness center, television, wetbar, speaker phones, high speed internet access, and data ports.
Day 2, 3 – Grand Canyon
Stay two nights at a Grand Canyon National Park lodge. Caravan’s lodges are all located inside the park, near the South Rim. All rooms are non-smoking. A free shuttle bus system operates within the park, offering free transport between all lodges, restaurants, the West Rim drive, Yavapai geology museum, and the Park Visitor Center. Elevation at the Grand Canyon’s South Rim averages 7,000 feet.
Thunderbird Lodge is a contemporary lodge located a few feet away from the rim edge of the Grand Canyon. All of the rooms have either two queen beds or one king bed, in-room coffee, refrigerator, safe, cable television, telephone, full bath, and air conditioning. Handicap rooms are also available. At Thunderbird Lodge, it’s just a three minute walk to the Bright Angel Restaurant, Arizona Room Restaurant, and El Tovar Restaurant.
Kachina Lodge is a contemporary “twin” lodge to the Thunderbird Lodge, located just a few feet away from the rim edge of the Grand Canyon. All of the rooms have either two queen beds or one king bed, in-room coffee, refrigerator, safe, cable television, telephone, full bath, and air conditioning. Handicap rooms are also available. At Kachina Lodge, it’s just a three minute walk to the Bright Angel Restaurant, Arizona Room Restaurant, and El Tovar Restaurant.
Maswik North Lodge is a modern lodge surrounded by a Ponderosa pine forest. It’s located one third of a mile from the rim edge of the Grand Canyon. All rooms have two queen beds or one king bed, in-room coffee, refrigerator, safe, cable television, telephone, full bath, and air conditioning.
Days 4, 5 – Lake Powell
Lake Powell Resort
Stay two nights at Lake Powell Resort. The resort is located on the shores of Lake Powell at Wahweap Marina, about 5 miles from the town of Page, Arizona and two miles from Glen Canyon dam. Guest rooms have two queen beds, air conditioning, coffeemakers and hair dryers. The resort features two pools, a jacuzzi, and a small beach on the lake shore. The resort has a lounge and two restaurants. Your breakfast in included each day at the world famous Rainbow Room, with spectacular views of the Glen Canyon and Lake Powell.
Day 6, 7 – Zion National Park
Zion Park Lodge
Stay two nights at historic Zion Park Lodge. This is the only lodging located inside Zion National Park. The lodge is situated in the center of the valley floor and surrounded by spectacular 2,000 foot sandstone canyon walls. The exterior of the lodge has been restored to its original 1920’s classic appearance. Hotel rooms feature air conditioning, phones, flat-screen televisions with satellite reception, radio alarm clocks, iron and ironing boards, hairdryers, coffeemakers and complimentary wireless internet. Zion Park offers a diverse selection of picturesque trails ranging from short, easy jaunts to strenuous adventures. Some of the trails begin immediately outside the lodge.
